Women for Afghan Women and Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan are pleased to invite you to a policy discussion focused on the implications of current and future peacebuilding initiatives in Afghanistan for Afghan women and girls. Please join us at this parallel event of the 2020 United Nations Commission on the Status of Women Forum (CSW) in New York City on March 16th.
Recent efforts by the United States and other actors to negotiate with the Taliban have thus far failed to meaningfully include women or emphasize safeguards for their rights in Afghanistan. In response, Afghan women have mobilized and continue to demand the protection of their rights in the eventual outcomes of talks. Their work continues.
Join us to hear from women on the frontlines of this battle advocating to preserve and expand the substantial gains Afghan women and girls have made since 2001, as they share their insights on efforts to amplify women’s voices at the negotiating table and recommendations for next steps. The moderated panel will include an audience Q&A.
