RISE MEETING MARCH 2nd, 2020
RISE Prep for Saint Margaret’s Grants
RISE members Prep for Saint Margaret’s Grants and talked about plans for the upcoming food pantry and food distribution event at Christ the King church, among several other issues discussed.
RISE MEETING FEBRUARY 10th 2020
RISE Members met on Monday February 10th 2020 to discuss new and ongoing Projects such as the Reading Project, CCBC Program, Nursery provider back-up, MD Food Bank, Magic Monday Summer Program, Advocacy with ERICA on Legislation, Connection with the congregation/community. The group also discussed possible Grants/Financing from St. Margaret’s Grant, Circle Fellowship connection, among many other issues discussed. Two representatives from St. Margaret’s Church (Alice and Elizabeth), were guest visiting that evening to witness and hear first-hand about RISE programs in support of immigrants and refugees and to provide valuable insight about the St Margaret’s grants program, as RISE undertakes the next steps towards the grants process.

RISE Members met on September 23rd, 2019 to discuss and to find ways to accommodate the influx of students registered for the CCBC English classes and to find day care facilities for their children.

MAGIC MONDAY HAPPENING ALL SUMMER IS ALL ABOUT A FUN-FILLED SUMMER FOR KIDS FROM ALL BACKGROUNDS.
From creative arts to games and flying parachutes, Magic Monday offers kids an incredible opportunity this summer to find a safe, peaceful and creative environment to relax, hone skills, explore their creativity, have fun, interact and make new friends. Bring your kids and have fun, don’t miss out Magic Mondays that start at 6:30 PM all through this summer

RISE Members met on 06/03/2019
and discussed amongst other issues, the Immigration Summit, CCBC and Magical Monday.
RISE Members attended the 9th Baltimore Immigration Summit at Coppin State University. May 31st, 2019.
The theme of this year’s Summit is “Restoring Hope through Solidarity,” which captures the critical nature of collaboration with and on behalf of New Americans. Additionally, this year’s theme resists the recent hateful rhetoric coming from the national stage and celebrates the ongoing good work of New Americans and their advocates in Baltimore. The event is sponsored by the Mayor’s Office of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs, the Jewish Museum of Maryland, Towson University and The Associated.

Drawn from her experiences at FIRN Sylvia Maldonado brought great insight into many of the issues RISE cares about and which are also issues that FIRN has worked on for decades: – these include Immigration Counseling, immigration legal services, social service referrals for immigrants etc.
